Second release in the hugely succesful classification series. Each of the four classification C30 cassettes were released at the peak of the diy tape boom and are still amongst our all time best sellers. This experimental but enigmatic music still sounds as haunting and fresh today as it did at the time.

18 track collection culled from the Falling A archives in celebration of the diy cassette. Cassette culture had a significant impact on the post punk era  and independent record label boom of the early 1980's. It has been largely undocumented but our aim is to put this right. The first release in the series covers a diverse selection from a rare version of "Johnny the Moondog" by the Cleaners from Venus to Wavis O'Shave performing a unique cassette version of "The Hard". Sleeve notes are by Martin Newell.

Virgin Prunes, The Fall
Price:
£3.99

This historic e.p. was the debut release from the insane picnic and one of the most succesful diy cassette releases. It received a rave review in Melody Maker and went on to sell 750 copies over an 18 month period, ranking it firmly in the top 10 of Falling A's distributed diy tape releases. It may sound a bit shambolic and dated listening to it almost 25 years later but it really captured the atmosphere of the diy cassette and fanzine era and is one of the definitive recordings of the period. Hence the reissue.
