This C30 cassette was the first in a very succesful series of releases that we put out during the peak period of the cassette culture boom. The classification of vegetables received countless great reviews in fanzines and also in Dave Henderson's "Wild Planet" column in Sounds. We presented these releases as a kind of alternative library series. This debut release paid a respectful but slightly tongue in cheek tribute to Pink Floyd's "Animals"album.

The Classification series was a hugely popular collection of cassette releases. Each of the four tapes contained 30 minutes of experimental music and carried a 90p price tag (20 years ago). You can hear feint Durutti Column, 23 Skidoo and other influences of the time. Was it anything to do with General Kustard? We're not telling you.

Follow up album to "It's all about purpose". Conceived during a trip to Istanbul. It is more rhythmic, hypnotic and Easternised than it's Germanic predecessor. The Mellotron, Wind Synth and acoustic effects play a bigger role than the electronic dabblings of "It's all about purpose".
